Bioshock: Gaming Gazes

This is one of my favorite essays I've written so far: it discusses Laura Mulvey's theory of the "male gaze" as it applies to the game Bioshock Infinite and the characters Elizabeth and Booker.

I Robot You, Jane: Girl Power and the Rise of Technology

This paper argues that Buffy the Vampire Slayer reflects dominant ideologies in regards to beauty, relationships, and technology, yet it is progressive in its overall representation of women and works to twist prevailing ideas about technology into a more positive light.

Cosmo vs Maxim

This essay explores the traditional femininity and hegemonic masculinity that are reinforced to varying degrees in both Cosmo and Maxim most frequently by the content of their advertisements, but also by their featured story and article content.

Writing Minor

Repurposing Project

This project was a repurposing of a paper I had done in the past. I chose to use an ethnography I had written on Nerdfighteria for an anthropology class and turn in into an informative article on the community.

Remediation Project

For the remediation project, I took the paper that I had repurposed and attempted to turn it into an informational website about Nerdfighteria. It was probably my favorite project of the year, and it works to discuss the online community and its impact.

Why I Write

The Why I Write piece discusses my motivations behind my writing  over the years - something I had never explored before this paper was assigned.
